The web is a great place for opportunity and a level playing field right? Well it depends on who is playing fair and for what side they are playing. This is especially true when it comes to buying leads. Sure leads are the lifeblood of any MLM, business opportunity, or networking program. You must have an endless supply of targeted, fresh, qualified leads to pitch to. The issue at hand here is what’s the smartest way to generate the leads you seek.

If you listen to a fast talking lead or list broker they will tell you all the reasons that on the surface sound great as to why you should buy or rent leads and lists from them and only them. And since there are as many or more people selling lead as their are business opportunities, how do you know who to listen to and who to spend your hard earned dollars with?

If you think this article has an agenda and I’m going to give you an affiliate link at the end to buy leads from me you are wrong. Relax, I’m not here to sell anything. I don’t even sell leads anyway. I am the leader of a huge success team working the Coastal Vacations program. I can tell you I didn’t become one of the all time top income earners of eleven years because I bought or rented leads!

As with anything there is a hard way and a smart way. If you buy leads you are going to learn quickly that you might as well set your money on fire and throw it out the window as you drive down the road. At least that way you can get some entertainment value out of it even it it only lasts a few seconds.

Lead and list brokers claim to have the perfect list of names. And it never matters what program or opportunity you are working. What gets me is the lead brokers who claim they have the perfect list without first ever asking which program you are working. Gee, I guess they are somehow psychic too… no not hardly. They are simply out to take your money.

Lead brokers will say everything they can think of (and some of them are quite convincing) to get you to buy their leads. And when you call them up afterwords, (you know when zero sales came in as a result of the leads you bought and you got a bunch of under aged kids and people who either filled out a sweepstakes offer online or never opted in for any incentivized offer in the first place) and ask why such a bad response, you will hear them say it is your fault because you didn’t work the leads properly. And wouldn’t you know it, they have something to sell you to help you discover how to work the leads the right way! Lucky you right?

Don’t waste your time buying or renting lead lists. Instead spend your money wisely and discover how to generate your own leads. At least you will know exactly how they were generated and that they are really targeted to your market.

Here’s a great question to ask people who are trying to sell you leads. “If these leads are so great, why don’t you join the opportunity and quietly use these leads to rake in thousands every day?” The answer is usually… “I’m not in the business opportunity business. I’m in the leads business.” or… “The company makes us sign something saying we will not join any opportunity etc. etc. blah blah blah” Neither is acceptable if you have common sense.

You would be far better off getting yourself a toll free voice mail number and running your own ad in USA Today on a Friday. If your ad copy is decent you will get a couple hundred calls. And then you will not have to deal with any of the headaches associated with buying leads.

Simply ask yourself if you want to grossly over pay for worthless leads who have already been called a zillion times and are not even remotely qualified for what you want or if you would rather talk with serious people should have the money and the mindset to get started immediately?

Another trick lead brokers use all the time is changing the dates on lead lists to make them appear fresh. Feel like buying a list of names and numbers that are literally two years old? Call up a lead broker and that’s most likely what you will get! You may get a list of names taken from one of those frisbies… I mean CD’s containing 80 million names on it that claims to be priceless etc.

Be smart. Use your head. Don’t buy leads.

There are many great benefits to doing your research, and joining a solid MLM program. With so many multi level marketing or related type programs, knowing what to look for will make the difference between throwing your initial enrollment fee out the window, or earning the income you dream of.

In this article you will discover what is not said by the quick talking sponsor , and always remember, what is not said is almost always just as important, or many times even more important, that what is said to get you to enroll.

I get calls from people all day long. The person on the other end of the line is somehow under the strange impression that they are giving me a version of the classic MLM pitch that I most likely have never heard before. Wrong!

They start out by telling me how great their MLM program is. The next thing mentioned by them is one of the crucial mistakes made by almost everyone. They start in with how much money their sponsor has made since joining the MLM company. Whenever I hear this, immediately it’s a very safe bet they have just joined the program and do not have two nickels of generated MLM income to show for their efforts. Once I pin them down by asking the same question over and over until they answer it, they most times will admit they are very new in the program. What’s the question? It’s very simple, and will always flush out the newbies. I ask “How long have you been in the program, and how much money have you personally made as a result of your efforts?”

By now it’s time for them to swallow a little pride, eat some crow, and admit that in most cases their sponsor told them to contact people and approach recruitment in this fashion. This is where the problem starts and one of the many reason why so many people have been “burned by an MLM program.”

The hard truth for most to accept is that it is not the MLM program that failed them. With a few small exceptions, most MLM programs are by far built pretty well. If they can work in theory, and on paper, they could work for you.

For those seriously looking for an MLM program, there is no better advice I can offer than to provide a simple analogy to describe the lame excuses you get from thousands of MLM failures. Excuses are like… oh well, you know!

Whenever I hear someone say they have joined an MLM program, or any money making opportunity, and they indicate the “program was no good.” I ask them a couple questions, of which they in most cases give the same basic, tired, worn out, lazy answers over and over and it goes like this.

Lazy Fred: “I joined this MLM company and it was a bad program. That’s why it was impossible for me to make any money at all.”

Britt: “What was the MLM program or company supposed to do for you?”

Lazy Fred: “It was supposed to make me rich!”

Britt: “Oh I see, and what were you supposed to do?”

Lazy Fred: “What do you mean?”

Britt: “I mean, what were your responsibilities?

Lazy Fred: “?”

People expect to join a program, and then go to bed poor, and wake up rich. If it were this easy folks, everyone would be a millionaire! The same thing is true with exercise. This brings to mind another great analogy to describe the excuses given by the fallen, would be MLM multi millionaire, excuse givers.

Look at how many different ab machines are selling on TV. Notice how they each try and sell you on how much easier their unit is and how much easier it will be to “get the hard, washboard abs you’ve always wanted.” with theirs. Which ab gadget is really the best, I mean which one really works better than the others and stands out above the rest? The answers is none! Each ab machine or gadget works, but only if you use them regularly!

This is a great place for me to ask a very revealing question. Where does the blame lie if you make the decision to not use the exercise equipment? Sure the answer is simple, it’s your fault if you don’t use it. Can you blame the exercise equipment for your own personal choice not to use it? Of course you can and that’s what most MLM failures do every single day!

In life we associate one of two emotions to everything we do. Those two emotions are pleasure, and pain. Would you touch a hot stove burner with your bare hand? Not unless you are a nut. You know you will feel pain. Would you give your spouse or significant other a warm hug and a kiss? You bet, and also you would come back for seconds! You know you will feel great pleasure by doing so. MLM programs are the very same. It’s easy to make excuses so you do not have to feel or experience the emotional pain.

In closing I want to touch on another area that is also critical to your MLM financial success. Just because most MLM programs are sound and could work for you, if you stop making lame excuses and work them, doesn’t mean you should just dive in head first without applying some common sense logic. What do I mean by this? Here’s a few things to stay away from when picking a very good MLM program.

Do not enroll in an MLM program where you are locked into paying any type of monthly fee regardless of if you earn any commissions. Do not join it!

Do not enroll in an MLM program if you are required to purchase product or samples of any kind. You will end up with a garage full of supplies and no income to show for your efforts!

Do not enroll in an MLM program that requires you to mail tapes, brochures, drag people to meetings, get people to join you in conferences calls etc. etc.

The above three MLM rules for success will save you lots of time, frustration, and money! Why are so many MLM programs built to include the three items above? Once you really understand this answer, you will be able to easily find a truly, well designed program that is designed for the members and not just the company. A program that requires one or more of the above from you, was never designed with you in mind in the first place. It was designed to make the company money every month no matter if you ever perform or not. Read this paragraph over and over until you get my point.

The bottom line is only two percent (if that) ever make any money in MLM. In order to make serious money with any MLM, you have to have several very serious and motivated people signed up under you and working the program with significant focus and energy full time. If they slack off then so does your income. Personally I don’t want to have to reply or depend upon another person for my own income. I like to make my own way and know I will be rewarded for the time, energy, and effort I put into it. That’s why I don’t waste any time, effort, or energy on any MLM! Being more productive is often a matter of simply making a few simple changes to your daily routine. These seven tips if consistently applied will help you get more done in less time. Master Schedules

The easiest way to get a handle on your schedule is to pick up an appointment book or desk top at a glance weekly planner. Make sure it has the time marked by the hour. An appointment book is great if you are constantly moving from one location to another. If you remain in the same location a desk top planner works nicely because you can quickly glance to see what you have scheduled.

Mark Accomplishments

In the margin of your planner write a small tick mark for every item you complete each day. It can be a returned call, a completed task or project etc. Set yourself a goal of at least 25 or even 50 ticks and stick with it.

To Do List

Always keep a To Do list and write as many daily things on it as possible. The idea is not to only write few enough items so you know you will easily get them done. The goal is to challenge yourself by writing extra items and then simply getting them done. The great sense of accomplishment feels awesome and if you keep it up your business will soar. If you aren’t able to get everything on your list crossed off simply carry it to the next day.

Repetitive Tasks

If you have certain things you need to do each day or on certain days, create yourself a daily check organized by day of the week. If there are things on your list that can be done ahead of time and you find you have more energy one day, try to cross off a couple extra items. This will give you more time when the day comes where you have already completed the task you were supposed to do then.

Automate Things

Using an automated dialer is a simple and extremely effective way to return calls. You can also use it to prioritize who you call back and when. Using audio to record and send replies to email is a great time saver since you can most likely talk much faster than you can type. Creating stationary in your email client and replying with it for common tasks also saves time.

Remove Distractions

A radio in the workplace may be okay for some but if you find yourself humming along more than getting work done it’s time to turn off the radio! The less you allow yourself to become distracted, the more productive you will be.

Focus

The ability to focus is extremely powerful. IN life you get what you focus on. Simply by working on focus each day, your productivity will increase and so will your income. Focus on where you want to be and get it done.

In today’s times it’s unfortunately not very tough to find plenty of people filled with hate. It’s sad in so many ways. It ripples like a rock thrown into a pond effecting the lives of good, honest, ethical people who simply do not deserve it.

A quick search on the Internet revealed even further proof and confirmation that hate truly is out of control. There are hate sites against Michael Jordan and even the greatest man who ever walked the earth Jesus Christ.

I suppose the rationale in the minds of people who are filled with hate is they have some reason and can easily justify their hatred for another. The most amazing thing about it becomes what those reasons are.

In almost every instance when the smoke clears, the actual reason which sparked the hatred initially is usually something really dumb.

One of the most insane things I’ve ever heard (and I hear it often in my business) is when people call me to say they’ve tried various business opportunities in the past and all were scams and the people promised them the moon… blah..blah..blah.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m dead set against anyone, anywhere giving people hype in order to sign them up into their program. However, where does the responsibility of the person signing up actually start?

It very clearly starts before they make their free will decision to send in a penny to join a program. Ultimately no matter what excuse they throw up, it is they who made the ultimate decision to send in their money to get signed up.

Several years ago I sent in my $39.95 just like tons of other people to buy a package which claimed to tell me how to make money placing ads in newspapers across the country. I watched the infomercial as others did and could have easily turned the channel. Instead, I made a personal decision to buy on my own accord.

I got the package and then something happened that is sort of rare. And it make be really hard for some to follow or to understand, but I actually opened the thing up and read it from cover to cover! Can you imagine the odds of that?

And to top that off, I actually applied what I had read and started placing ads in newspapers. And would you believe that I started making money just like the infomercial claimed I would if I simply followed the course? I did!

Further proof of my success came when I was asked to appear on the very same national infomercial due to my success placing ads.

I soon began to get calls from people who had also purchased the same identical course. The difference was they were filled with absolute hatred. They would say things to me like… “that course was a rip off.”… “I didn’t make any money with it.”… and so on.

I started asking these people two simple questions which were… “What was the course supposed to do for you?” And the response to this questions was always some form of… “Make me rich etc.” And then I would ask them a question that wold send shock and confusion through them in ways most simply refused to accept nor understand. I would ask… “What were YOU supposed to do?” Let’s face facts here. Most people are unfortunately very lazy. They don’t want to exercise. They want to keep eating the wrong foods and simply take a pill to make the fat go away. And the same thing is true in the minds of most people when they join any business opportunity.

They have what I call…

Go To Bed Poor Wake Up Rich Syndrome And this is really sad. It’s sad because long before these people started looking for a way to change their lives with a business opportunity, they had already failed.

The average person has a lottery mentality and their work ethic is non existent or at the very least extremely limited. And it doesn’t matter how clearly it is defined for the person before they sign up into a program, there are always going to be people who blame their own personal failures on the person who shared the business opportunity with them initially. This is much easier isn’t it? Of course it is and that’s exactly what fuels the hate. People join a business opportunity expecting to go to bed poor and wake up rich. They expect to skip over the actual work part and jump straight to living on the beach with a tropical drink in one hand and a stack of cash in the other.

One would think this would be enough to demonstrate to an excuse maker and a hate filled type person that possibly the reason they have always failed at every business opportunity they’ve ever been involved with is not the program but their attitude and lack of effort!

These people will blame anything and anyone they can. They will say it’s this persons fault or that persons fault etc. They come up with all kinds of excuses.

I just can’t understand why anyone would choose to live their life in this manner. It makes absolutely no sense at all to me. Success leaves clues and if you look at the most successful people in the world, you’ll quickly see they all have one thing in common. They took action and did not make excuses. I’ve been in a lot of business opportunities. I’ve failed at most of them and I’ll be the first to tell you I make no excuses for it. Nor do I blame anyone. Ultimately it was my personal free will decision to join them and no one put a gun to my head to force me into it.

Instead of allowing my failures to fuel hatred toward the people who I joined the programs with, instead I chose to be smart about it and to try and learn from the experiences.

If we each try and learn as we go, it should come a point in time when pause and realize we are making progress and not repeating the same things over and over that we know have already proven not to work or to be effective. But unfortunately not everyone shares this fundamental belief and understanding.

Here’s an example that may shock you. A twenty year old kid called me one day asking if he could make money with the business opportunity that I do. I immediately said sure but told him only if he were truly serious and willing to put forth serious effort to do it.

I was at first a little hesitant to work with someone so young because I know maturity levels are not often high enough to be serious. However he agreed to visit me in person and I knew it would give me a chance to see if he seemed sincere.

He came to visit me and was immediately excited when he saw my half million dollar, 6,000 sq. ft. home and furnishings etc. He kept going on and on about how successful I am and that is exactly where he wanted to be.

I asked if he were willing to put in the time required and most of all the serious effort to follow my already proven “Three Step Success System”. He assured me he was committed to it and that no matter what he would not give up until he made a success out of it for himself.

He then began to tell me about his past. He shared how he had wanted to be a Navy seal and that he had made excuses and given up and as a result lost his chance at it. He told me he had other parts of his life where he also gave up and quit before following through to completion or success. This caused me to have concern as to whether or not he would actually stick with the opportunity before him or if he would slip into his old ways and bad habits.

He came out of the gate with plenty of energy but it was not long at all until he started missing appointments that we had set to do three way telephone calls. And I let him know we needed to always keep these appointments if he expected to close any sales. Each time he would apologize and say it would never happen again. It happened several times until one day I asked him to make a decision. I asked him to tell me if he wanted to make money or continue to keep making one excuse after another. He agreed to stop making excuses.

In my opportunity you earn $1,000. per sale so even with only one sale a week it would put $52,000. a year into your pocket. For most people this is far more than they earn already and it would be a very nice thing to happen in their lives.

This kid (with my help and constant support) managed to line up two sales that were ready to sign up. This would have meant he would have made director and then been poised to earn $1,000. per sale on every sale for the rest of his natural life.

So did the kid take advantage of this incredible opportunity and follow through as he should have? Nope, instead he thought he would get smart and call me with an ultimatum. One he wold later see would back fire on him.

He called me up on day and said he wanted me to send him half the sales commission I was going to earn on as a result of those two training sales he had to give me anyway in order to qualify for the program. His idea was that I would still make money and if I refused to split my commissions then he would call both of the prospects up and tell them not to join the program. Is that insane or what?

And guess what, when I refused to change the rules of the company to suit him, he made good on his threat and called both prospects up. He told them blatant lies about me personally such as he had visited me and I did not live in a nice home and have nice things etc. He told them I was not successful etc. Even though he knew all along having already seen my success lifestyle with his own eyes that he was lying in a very big way.

I was very disappointed him and his antics. I was disappointed that he would stoop to such tactics in an attempt to blackmail me out of sales commissions that he knew were rightfully mine.

He started posting lies about me on the Internet and one day I prayed about the situation and I felt compelled to try one last time to reach out to him. To somehow try and get him to realize if he truly wanted to change his life then he first needed to change his attitude. So I wrote him a lengthy email, not sure if he would even bother taking the time to read it or if he did what he would do afterward with my offer to help him.

I don’t think he really expected anyone to reach out to him like that because he replied and told me he was ashamed of what he had done. He admitted he had intentionally ruined both sales to get back at me for refusing to split my commissions with him. He was said he was even to ashamed to talk with me on the phone.

In the days prior to my email he had been busy posting lies about me on the web in various places and again this was his attempt to get back at me for something that was his own fault.

I told him I was willing to work with him despite what he had done but made it very clear that most people would not and that I hoped he had learned something from the experience. He said he had and that he would retract the lies and admit them. And to his short lived credit he did post retractions admitting it was he and not I that had the problem and that I had been very supportive and always kept my word.

Since he had ruined the two sales we had already spent time, energy, and effort (mostly mine) to close, he came up with the idea a couple of days later that he wanted to try and salvage those sales before we moved on to others. I tried to explain to him that it was a lost cause and we should just move on due to the damage he had already caused.

He ultimately decided once again he wanted to make excuses and slipped back into his old ways. And as I write this article, he to this day emails me all the time (always from fake email addresses) with harassment. He calls my office at all hours of the day and night and always makes sure that I know it is him doing it. He sends me instant chat messages and just tries to so whatever he thinks will cause me problems. All the while not realizing that in fact he is his own worst problem.

To contrast this, a short time later another twenty year old visited me to record a video testimonial in which he states his ability to generate over $9,000. in just his first eight weeks in my program.

So from now on these two people who share the same age but totally separate attitudes and belief systems, will forever go through life on separate paths.

The first guy will lie and try to convince everyone he comes into contact with the world owes him something and that everything and everyone is a scam. The second will go on to become even more successful and as a result enjoy a fruitful and highly productive life.

The upside to this is there are some great business opportunities available. You can change your life in a very positive way. It all starts with your attitude. Decide not to make excuses but rather to make money.

Time is money… and it’s never been more true when it comes to working in a home based business of your own. It’s easy to allow distractions to rob you of very valuable time each day and thus eat away at your income. Here are seven ways to make sure it doesn’t happen to you.

Radio & Television

Some people are able to work with a radio or TV in the background. However most aren’t and they tend to move about their day at a much slower pace. It’s easy to start humming along to the song or to get caught up in what is being shown on TV etc. Leave the radio and TV off and focus your time on tasks that need to be completed.

Daily Checklist

Write things down that need to get done. This enables you to focus on the things you need to do instead of trying to remember what needs to be done. A checklist is also a great way to make sure you don’t miss repetitive tasks that can sometimes be given a low priority. Always challenge yourself by including more items than you most likely are going to be able to accomplish in a day. Push yourself to complete one or two extra tasks each day. Over time this will really pay off in many ways.

Rise Early

If your day is one which routinely requires you to spend a large amount of time on the telephone, you need to begin your day earlier. By getting started a couple hours before the phone starts ringing, you can more effectively manage tasks that can be completed from your checklist that require more time without interruption.

Get Organized

A daily planner in weekly format is a must if you want to know what is going on with your week. And it also will help you to keep everything in one easy to find location. Next you must also force yourself to only make entries for appointments on your planner and no where else. Little personal notes to yourself can and often do get misplaced and even thrown away.

Motivation

You must find a way to give yourself a motivational boost to create your purpose and fuel your energy for the day. Perhaps reading your mission statement each morning or looking at pictures of your family etc. Maybe even placing pictures of the new house, car, boat or whatever else you would like to buy.

Block Time

It’s easy to get caught up in daily activities and sort of attack what needs to get done or sometimes even anything just to tell yourself you are doing something. It’s very important to block some time to do certain tasks that help you to grow your business. It’s not enough to look back on each day reflecting how much or what you accomplished as it relates to busy work. You must also be able to say you actually did things that help your business to grow overall as well. Remember the objective is to grow, not merely sustain.

Automation

In this day and age automation is an absolute must. There are many excellent ways to use available technology to replace what would ordinarily require many hours of your time, energy, and effort. Use technology for things like email, returning phone calls, initial prospecting etc. Find software to automate your daily tasks.

Always remember, few will take the time to get organized. However most will complain about never having enough time to get anything done.

Do not ever sign up for any business opportunity where you are required to balance this or that in order to get paid. Despite what the reps will claim, it is a proven fact that 99% of the people who sign up for these types of programs never make any money in them.

Go with direct sales…

With direct sales you always get paid for your actions. And you do not have to depend on anyone else or planetary alignment before you earn.

Focus on the prize…

Simply put you must focus yourself in the direction you want to go. Forget about trying to juggle more than one business opportunity. Many fall in to this trap. Pick one business opportunity and learn how to be very good at it. You will reap many more long-term reward.

Basically you want to find a direct sales business opportunity with a great product which delivers tremendous value to the consumer. You want something that has been around for a long time. One major mistake many make is signing up in a brand new program. They spend most of their time trying to convince prospects the company is stable since it is so new etc.

Find qualified leadership…

You must find someone who is already successful as your mentor. And it does not mean you should take their word for it. Always seek proof of success. Otherwise you are wasting your time, energy, and effort listening to someone who can’t help you.

Follow technology and automation…

In today’s times technology is king and automation is the key to sustained success. Always ask the person you are considering working with how they incorporate technology and automation in to their marketing campaigns.

Always go high ticket…

Low ticket and big ticket sales require the same amount of time to close. However with big ticket items you make much more money for the same amount of time, energy, and effort. Why sell a product putting $30. in your pocket when you can just as easily earn thousands of dollars with the same effort.

You are the interviewer…

You should never allow the person you speak with about a business opportunity make you feel like you aren’t in charge of the interview. You are the one conducting the interview not the other way around. Ask lots of questions and do not ever be afraid to ask for detailed explanations to satisfy your points of interest.
