Here’s what I do to reward those who contribute to my blog.
Do Follow
By default, WordPress blogs use a rel=”nofollow” attribute. I have installed the Do Follow plugin on this blog. This plugin removes the nofollow attribute. This means when you post comments to this blog that contain links, the search engines will spider this blog and follow those links too! This counts as backlinks for you. This is a HUGE deal in terms of Google ranking for example.
KeywordLuv
I also have the KeywordLuv plugin installed. This plugin is great because in addition to getting backlinks when you leave comments, you can also enter anchor text for your backlink in the “name” field of the comment section. Here’s how you do it…
Simply seperate your name from your keywords with an @ symbol. For example, if I wanted to create a backlink with the keyword phrase “Million Dollar Income” I would put Britt@Million Dollar Income” into the name field. When my comment is approved the title will appear as “Britt from Million Dollar Income” with the anchor text being the link to my website.
CommentLuv
I also have installed the CommentLuv plugin. This plugin allows you to include a titled link to your last blog post or tweet at the end of your comment! Plus you can become a member of the ComLuv Network by registering for free. This will give you 10x the love when you comment on enabled blogs.
Top Commentators
I also have the Top Commentators plugin installed. This plugin maintains a top ten list of everyone who leaves comments on my blog. This means that if you leave comments often, you can enjoy prominent listing on every page of this blog! Your top ten listing can also include your anchor text and link as well.
That’s a lot of serious incentive that should get you leaving comments.
Here’s how to make sure you stand the best possible chance of having your comments approved…
1. QUALITY
I’m giving you higher search engine visibility. In exchange, your comments need to be quality comments. One or two word comments such as “I agree”… “good post” etc. will NOT be approved. You need to leave quality comments that are valuable to other blog readers.
2. VALUE
Your comments must be of value. Other blog readers do not want to scroll down a long list of thoughtless comments any more than I do when approving them. Make your comments valuable. Add something of value.
3. READ BEFORE YOU COMMENT!
I cannot stress this enough. Your comments must clearly reflect that you actually read the post before commenting on it. Vague or otherwise comments designed to bluff their way past the approval won’t get far. I will only approve comments that I can tell came as the direct result of someone actually taking the time to first read the post.
4. BE RELEVANT!
Don’t simply read the title and say… “Thanks for the post” and leave a general comment.
5. COMMENT WITH REFERENCE TO A COMMENT
If you prefer, you can respond to a comment someone else made. However, you first need to take the time to understand the thread and how to comment appropriately to it.
6. BE NICE!
Always keep your comments on a professional level. I understand you may at times disagree with something someone else says. It happens. Just be nice about it.
7. AVOID SHORT PHRASES
Comments such as “I agree”, “interesting post”, “very informative” etc. does nothing but waste my time when going through which posts to approve. The very first thing I do is delete all of the useless posts which do not contribute any substance.
By following these simple guidelines you can enjoy lots of link love from me! I believe it’s all about helping each other out. You help me and I will help you.

And it is really the best way to have many comments at your blog. But there should be the plugin also which checks for comments like ‘i like it’, ‘it’s nice’ and so on – to sieve such comments out of the rest automatically. And the rest may be checked by yourself.
It might be worth to check just for short comments too. Comments like ‘yes’ or ‘no’ or ‘maybe’ or ‘five’
usually gives no contribution to the discussion, aren’t they?
Looks like getting approved is a challenge though,lol I’ve just recently turned my PR4 blog into DoFollow too since I want to share some love to my readers and commenters. I appreciate you doing this because it will sure encourage nice conversation and people in leaving some love in your blog. You have a wide range of interesting topics and would love to interact more.
