I think everone was effected in some way by the craziness of 2008. The mortage crisis, gas crisis, and the bank issues etc. The economy rapidly went south. Every business owner felt the impact of it in some way. People lost their savings, their homes, their jobs and more. I expect many will still be trying to dig their way out of their 2008 losses at the end of 2009. On top of all the stuff we all had to put upo with in 2008 I lost my mother. It was especially tough.
Like most I put together my resolutions list which included among other things, making up for 2008 and being comitted to making 2009 my very best year to date. However here’s where my resolutions list and most everyone elses differs. Or I should say here’s what I’m doing as it relates to my list. We all know the two biggest resolutions on most lists are to lose weight and make more money. Intentions are great but without action and follow through, the list might as well never been written. So let’s take a look at how I’m doing with my resolution to make more money.
I decided to commit to generating some significant money in the early stages of 2009 so it would not only motivate me and jump start my year, it would also set the tone for the entire year in terms of personal short and long term goals. I’ve been one of the all time top income earners in a particualar business opportunity for several years. This program is a direct sales program. This means my income isn’t determined by how long I’ve been in the program or any complicated compensation plan which requires the planets to allign and many other people jumping through all sorts of hoops to have success. In other words I earn based on my personal efforts. I like it much better this way because I know I am dedicated and motivated. I do not want my ability to earn money dependant on anyone else because who knows how driven or serious another person ever truly is?
I’m late making this blog post because I’ve been really busy. I had planned to chronicle my sales over the first week as they happened and post about it here. However with taking on new clients and trying to create many new marketing plans for various products and services I’m launching this year, I simply didn’t get around to it. Here’s the first video I shot.
As you can see by January 02 I was already well on my way to reaching my goal for January. With that momentum I kept on doing what I knew would work and by January 05 I was ready to shoot another video.
As you can see my year is off to a major head start in terms of money generated. I am personally comitted to making this look like chump change by the end of the year. And here’s where things get really tough for many (although they really shouldn’t allow them to) and unfortunately this little thing called “work” simply stops many dead in their tracks. As I said in the video clips, this isn’t go to bed poor and wake up rich. However it’s not nearly as tough as most would have you belive it is to make serious money.
So what’s my secret to making this kind of money in such a short amount of time? The secret is really two fold. First I sell a product that has a very high commission. Look, it isn’t any harder to ask for a sale for a product that cost more than it is to sell something like a little ebook for $30. It’s all a matter of who you talk to and if they are qualified and have the money to spend etc. Another extremely helpful aspect of this secret is to automate your prospect communication as much as possible. This acomplishes two goals. First it ensures you are constantly reaching out to prospects in a timely manner. Secondly it allows you to reach tons of people at the same time versus manually wearing yourself out trying to go the old school route of “dialing for dollars” and reading scripts etc. The next part of my secret is something I learned years ago. And that is people are extremely lazy. They do not want to take the time to learn how to do anything. And this is especially true when it comes to online stuff. One way I use their laziness to my advantage is to offer them the services they are either too lazy to learn to do or simply too busy to do and would rather outsource. Case in point. I offer a blog design service for $1,500. People pay me$1,500. to design a custom blog which includes a dozen or so of the top WordPress widgets installed. Custom header graphics, and a complete blog tour and admin panel walkthrough. I even pay out a hefty and insane $500. affiliate commission for new client referrals of this service!
Back in 2008 when everything started getting really crazy and people were hesitant to invest as freely as normal in a business opportunity, I simply focused my energy and efforts on creating content for new DVD titles. I also read several marketing books and kept myself productive. Remember this. Always be doing something that is going to put money in your pocket either today or in the future. There are rarely days when I do not do several things that will directly effect my business in a positve way. Always be thinking and doing. Always take action. Always move toward your goals. When you stand still and do nothing, life and success simply go around you and pass you by.
